Here’s a just a quick update on a few speaking engagements lined up for the near future:
SQL Saturday – Charlotte BI Edition (10/19/2013)
Right on the heels of PASS Summit 2013, this SQL Saturday is more awesome than usual since it’s heavily geared towards the BI crowd! Lots of good sessions from some big names in Microsoft BI – which makes me wonder how a n00b like me slipped through the cracks and managed to secure a slot. I’ll be delivering a session at the end of the day focusing on the tabular model.
Pragmatic Works – Free Training on the T’s (1/14/2014)
Pragmatic Works is a solid brand with a number of employees who are very active in the Microsoft BI community. One thing they’ve done for a while, which I’m a big fan of, is host free online training sessions on (most) Tuesdays and Thursdays where seasoned developers and architects present on a variety of SQL Server and BI related topics. I highly encourage you to attend the live sessions because you get to ask questions and receive immediate feedback…but they also host the recordings in case you have a schedule conflict.
I’ll be presenting a new session called Bus Matrix – the foundation of your Data Warehouse on Tuesday 1/14/2014. Here’s the abstract:
The Bus Matrix is the the cornerstone of a good Data Warehouse program. This document serves many purposes: from communicating requirements, capabilities, and expectations with the business users to the prioritization and delegation of tasks across the development team. Join me in this session and learn what a Bus Matrix is, why it is the most important document in your Data Warehouse program, what can go wrong without it (with actual real-world examples), and finally how to create one and maintain it over time.
Atlanta BI SQL Server User Group (1/27/2014)
This is a group I’ve been a regular member of for over 3 years. Not only have I learned a ton, but I’ve also met some really cool people who are just as passionate about SQL Server/BI as I am. The group meets regularly on the last Monday of every month and I’m proud to be sponsoring the January 2014 meeting where I’ll be delivering a session on the Bus Matrix.
