Pro SQL Server 2008 Service Broker

Before my last project, SQL Server Service Broker was simply a topic I’d read about a few times and played with on a lab system once or twice.  I understood the use cases at a high level (scaled-out service-oriented systems) and was quite impressed with a few of the published articles and case studies (like myspace)…but I’d never dealt with it on a real project.

On the recommendation of our technical architect I bought Pro SQL Server 2008 Service Broker and began reading…

Pro SQL Server 2008 Service Broker

Simply put, Klaus Aschenbrenner (blog | twitter) is the f@@king man when it comes to SQL Server Service Broker.  Not only does this book teach the ins/outs of SQL Server Service Broker (yes, with easy to follow examples), but it will also change the way you think about database design for service-oriented applications.

By the end of the book, I felt very comfortable with all the moving parts and was eager to put these new tools to good use.  So, I ended up leveraging service broker to simulate various batch loading and processing scenarios during some preliminary performance testing sessions.

Highly recommend!
